Comments from attendees of a class given for the Maryland Municipal League’s Fall Conference, with the Director of the Maryland Governor’s Grants Office and the President of the Capital Association of Grant Professionals
“Three powerhouse instructors. Great session!”
“Speakers did a terrific job.”
“This was one of the most interesting classes, with the best presenters, that I’ve attended in my 4 years at MML. Thank you!”
“I attended the all day seminar – “Getting Your Share of the Pie – The Complete Guide to Finding Grants.” And, I am so glad I did. Ms. Mann not only answered all of my questions, she was engaging, friendly, and she created an environment that offered the opportunity to network with other like minded professionals. The Checklist for Designing the Perfect Project is just one of the helpful tools that I took away from the seminar. I have and will continue to refer to each of the “tools of the trade” often”. P. Daniels
“Valerie Mann is by far the most successful grant writer I have seen in my 42 years in law enforcement. When she started with my department, we had basically nothing in terms of equipment. She brought us up to the level of a technologically sophisticated agency.”
Chief William Lamphere, former Chief of Police in Havre de Grace, MD and Hurlock, MD
“Valerie, the response to your workshop was overwhelmingly positive. Our membership is hungry for grants information and your class seems to have hit the mark”.
Ms. Mann will give the attendees a complete course in how to search for grants as well as how to take the sources you have identified and create a grant seeking strategy which works for you and your organization. She will give specific websites and organizations and types of software, thus covering the entire gamut of search tools available today. The grant seeker will be fully equipped to go out and search all of the online and printed material available. This class will include separate sections on Federal grants, state grants, and foundation grants, as well as grants distributed by banks, corporations, and service clubs.
This class will also give the student a solid plan on how to evaluate the sources which have been identified. Ms. Mann will present a suggested strategy for prioritizing those sources and deciding how your organization can allocate its resources to apply to as many sources as possible. She will discuss considerations related to staffing and your organization’s needs as it relates to strategizing your grant seeking. She will not only show you where to look for grants- she will teach you how to approach those sources once they have been identified.
