Commissioner’s Listening Session next Thursday 2/20 at 9:30am at the Charles County Public Library in Waldorf.
The listening session is for consumer advocates, service providers, and financial educators to meet the Commissioner of Financial Regulation in Maryland, learn about the office, and discuss the challenges faced by the residents they serve. The listening session is informative for Commissioner Salazar to hear directly from advocates, providers, and educators about the experiences of Maryland consumers and an opportunity to ask questions or request assistance. The Office of the Commissioner of Financial Regulation:
- charters and supervises banks and credit unions;
- licenses or registers financial services businesses (mortgage companies, debt collectors, consumer lenders, check cashers, money transmitters, credit reporting agencies, and sales finance companies among others);
- responds to consumer complaints against supervised entities; and
- undertakes enforcement actions for violations of laws and regulations.
