MAC’s mission is to provide community support for critical and unique Department of the Navy (DON) and Department of Defense (DOD) activities, bases and missions in Charles County, MD.
Mr. Huggins has already represented our Chamber at Signing Ceremony for the Public Private Partnership between NSWC Indian Head EOD Technology Division and NAMMO, at the Indian Head Pavilion on the Village Green in the Town of Indian Head, MD.
NAMMO, a Norwegian company, has established a public-private partnership with the US Navy’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal Division at Indian Head — home of the Naval Surface Warfare Center – at Indian Head, Maryland, to produce tactical solid rocket motors and develop new technology to boost the US industry. NAMMO will make significant financial investments to Indian Head’s infrastructure and plans to invest more than $23 million in renovations to existing facilities on the base plus an additional $7 million in new equipment. This investment is expected to bring more than 130 new manufacturing jobs to the area over the next five years.
During the subsequent bus tour of the restricted area, Mr. Huggins and Chamber Board Member, Rhonda Thomas, interfaced with Scott McKee, Customer Advocate, CITE, NSWC IHEODTD; asking him to keep the Chamber informed of any contracting opportunities that may arise out of the public-private-partnership.
Mr. Huggins., President and COO, Last Mile Broadband of Maryland LLC, has also agreed to serve as Chair of the Southern Maryland Chamber of Commerce, Broadband Committee. He will be reaching out to solicit members to be on his Committee.
