Prince George’s Zoning Rewrite Focus Group Meeting

Southern Maryland Black Chamber of Commerce,

The Prince George’s County Planning Department is conducting a comprehensive rewrite of the Zoning Ordinance and Subdivision Regulations. These laws define how land in certain geographic areas can be used. The current Zoning Ordinance is more than 1,200 pages, inconsistent and difficult to use. Our hope is to create a 21st Century Zoning Ordinance for Prince George’s County, transforming the current zoning code into a more modern and user-friendly ordinance

You are invited to attend one of two focus group sessions being held on February 3, 2016. Unlike the individual focus group sessions we have held so far, these focus group sessions are designed as an open forum for you to discuss the recommendations in Module 1 with project stakeholders from all sectors. Planning Department staff’s role will be limited to moderating the discussion and note-taking so it is imperative that you review Module 1 prior to these meetings. Please attend the focus group session that is most convenient for you.

The Zoning Rewrite team has prepared several questions that will help guide your reading of Module 1 and better assist you in understanding the changes that Clarion Associates has proposed to the current zone structure and use tables.  We encourage you to review these questions with your colleagues, neighbors, and constituents in preparation for the focus group session.

Electronic versions of Module 1: Zones and Use Regulations can be found on our project website at zoningpgc.pgplanning.com under the Project Documents tab. Hard-copies of the module can be found at the reference desk of all branches of the Prince George’s County Memorial Library System.
