A MESSAGE FROM CONGRESSMAN STENY H. HOYER
Yesterday the General Service Administration (GSA), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) announced that the new FBI headquarters will be fully consolidated. Two of the three potential sites for the new consolidated headquarters —Greenbelt and Landover— are located in Prince George’s County.
I have worked closely with my colleagues in the Maryland Congressional Delegation and officials at the state and local level to ensure that the FBI gets a fully consolidated modern headquarters that will allow the agency to fulfill its mission. I was pleased to hear this news along with the announcement that the qualified development teams have been notified to compete for the headquarters.
Prince George’s County is clearly the best choice for the FBI, with close proximity to facilities like Joint Base Andrews and the National Security Agency, it’s a short distance from our nation’s capital, and it has easy access to mass transit and other transportation options. Relocating the FBI headquarters to Maryland will bring thousands of jobs to Prince George’s County, spur economic development in our communities, and generate revenue the county needs to invest in health care and education.
I look forward to continuing to work with my partners in Congress and in Maryland to bring this important economic development project to Prince George’s County.
